10 Really Cool Zipline Playgrounds In and Around Columbus
My little boy LOVES a good zipline and frequently asks to check out a zipline playground. We definitely have our favorite spot, but I put together this list to help expand on the playgrounds we frequent, and maybe help another family out along the way.
*Be aware that the ziplines aren’t guaranteed to be working, I know these communities try their best to keep them up and running, but somethings things happen.
Aldersgate Park, Marysville
Location: 400 Damascus Rd., Marysville, OH
Aldersgate Park is a fun space that features, 2 ponds, 3 separate playground areas including an elaborate treehouse, picnic areas, and wooded trails. The zipline is a gravity rail that features a rubber swing. Hold on tight and let gravity take you on a ride.
Blendon Woods Metro Park, Columbus
Location: 4265 E Dublin Granville Road, Columbus, OH
Located in the Blendon Woods natural play area, this zipline is fun! The zipline is a wooden swing seat that takes you on a slower ride across a little creek. The space can get really muddy, so be prepared. Signage indicates a minimum age of 5 and a max weight of 300 lbs. While you are there, be sure to check out the rest of the natural play space and the fun playground right down the road.
Cowling Park, London
Location: 175 N. Main St., London, OH
Cowling Park is a fantastic all-abilities playground and features a ZipKrooz zipline. The ZipKrooz is set up with a molded bucket seat, with a lock-in-place harness, which provides stability and security for kids with limited core strength.
Garrett Park, West Jefferson
Location: 177 Cemetery Rd, West Jefferson, OH
This park was recently renovated in 2022 and it is beautiful. There is a gravity rail alongside a lovely play area for children of all-abilities. Take a seat on the rubberized swing, hold on tight, and let gravity take you on a ride around the rail. It was a tough climb getting the swing back up the ramp, but the climb didn’t phase my boy.
Glacier Ridge Metro Park, Plain City
Location: 9801 Hyland Croy, Plain City, OH
The recreation structures at Glacier Ridge Metro Park features three cedar structures designed to support open ended play with climbing walls, ladders, and ropes. The 50 ft zipline shoots out of one of the cedar structures for a fun and fast ride across the play space. I loved watching the children use team work to help get the zipline back to the starting line and get a friend up on the seat. It was very sweet!
Highbanks Metro Park, Lewis Center
Located in the Big Meadows Picnic Area, this stand alone zipline is a fun back and fourth ride. When you need a break from the zipline, be sure to check out the playground and the natural play area, both are very close by.
McCord Park, Worthington
This zipline has yet to be knocked out of our number one spot for favorite zipline. The playground has been recently updated and the zipline is fast with a really high rebound. The rest of the playground features a fun timed challenge course, rolling slides, and more.
McGill Park, Canal Winchester
The zipline at McGill park is very similar to McCord park with a little less of the rebound. The rest of the playground has fun climbing walls and ropes, swings, and spinning structures.
Quarry Trails Metro Park, Columbus
This is a two in one zipline deal, so you can turn this into a racing event. Last time we were there, the ziplines were a bit taller, so it took some work for my little boy to get up on the saucer. We made it work and he went flying!
Seldom Seen Park, Powell
This is the hit feature of Seldom Seen Park. Located near ball fields, this little playground has a few climbing structures, a sand pit, and some sound features. The Zipline was where all the children gravitated and they did a nice job of taking turns with handing off the swing.
